Wine Icon Penfolds Magill Estate Part 3

Located amongst the historic buildings of the Penfolds Magill Estate is the Restaurant.

The restaurant combines a clean modern architectural style with the beautiful natural location of its Adelaide foothills location and historic surrounds. It delivers a contemporary and comfortable fine dining atmosphere with spectacular views of the city of Adelaide and beyond. Contemporary food, an extensive collection of Penfolds wines, exemplary service and again those stunning views completes one of Australia’s finest food and wine experiences.

On a recent trip we were invited by the Restaurant Manager Rudranil to stop by for a taste and tour. We met at the main tasting room and from there we were taken through the main building. A lot has changed in the few years since we had done this before.

We quickly got down to tasting some great Penfolds wines. We had a lovely tasting and Rudranil's experience and knowledge of the wines only added to the experience. So enamored were we that we made reservations at the restaurant for the following night.

Hanging with the legend Peter Gago

While it had been a few years since we had dined there before we were not prepared for how much the place had changed. Very nice!

We were warmly greeted and seated in the starter area for a couple glasses of Champagne while comfortably overlooking to twinkling lights of the city. Comfy red soft seating.

THURSDAY - SATURDAY DINNER From Thursday to Saturday we offer a tasting menu of our signature dishes for $210 per person (approximately 3 hours).

Wine matching is optional, available packages include:

- Icon and Luxury wine match, $260 per person - Sommeliers Choices, $125 per person - Non-alcoholic match, $50 per person

We had gone with the Icon and the Sommeliers choice for our wine pairings. Magic is the only way to describe the experience. The food was sublime and when paired was even better. Simply divine!

Look we could go on and on about each course and pairing but they do change it up so enjoy some photos and go try for yourself. If you are in Adelaide we say this is a 'must do' evening.

Happy Adventures,

Cheers,

WineWalkabout
